About FarWayOut

Hello there!

We’re Yan & Aga, a Swiss-Polish couple who likes photography, video games, and green tea ice-cream. And travelling of course (preferably on motorbikes!).

We met for the first time in 2013 at a campsite in South Korea.

At the time, we were both on our own separate overlanding trips: Yan was riding from Spain to Japan on his trusty Honda Africa Twin (XRV750) aka “Donkey”. Aga meanwhile was in a middle of a around-the-world journey with her family in Toyota Land Cruiser.

We moved to Australia in 2016 as it was a continent none of us visited before and we thought it would be fun to try something new. In December 2020, we left our jobs and escaped the Covid-19 lockdown in Melbourne to start a long-awaited motorcycle journey around Australia on two Suzuki DR650s.

Humble beginnings - our first motorcycle trip together was to Italy in 2014

We rode over 33,000 km across the continent, experienced the rough Australian Outback, learned how to dive, reached the northernmost point of continental Australia, and made new friends and memories. We weren’t ready to stop, but Covid was still making traveling a bit complicated, so we decided to have a little break in Europe to repair our budget.

Since July 2023, we’re back on the road again. We don’t have any grand travel goals or plans like riding through all countries or beating some crazy records. We’re just slowly making our way through the world finding places that interest us.

Yan is the mechanic, financial manager, and overall the rational element in this two-people team. He’s always using common sense and logic to evaluate any crazy plans Aga may have.

Aga is the trip planner, camp quartermaster as well as the “when is the next snack break?” and “let’s go check what’s at the end of this road” type of person.

Together we speak about 3 and a half languages (English, French, Polish and a bit of Spanish, Japanese and Russian).

We think we make a pretty good team, even though traveling together 24/7 is not always as easy and fun as it looks!

On this website, we share our travel experience through a series of motorcycle travel guides, maps, reviews, bike set ups and just overall travel reflections.

Enjoy and safe riding!
